Signs and Symptoms
PTSD symptoms mainly fall into 4 categories:
• Intrusion: You might have bad memories, flashbacks or nightmares about the trauma. These feelings can be really strong. Make you feel like the event is re-occuring.
• Avoidance: You might try to stay from people, places or things that remind you of the event. You might also have trouble remembering details about what happened.
• Changes in How You Think and Feel: This can include feeling bad about yourself or the world feeling disconnected from others or not being able to feel happy or satisfied.
• Changes in How You React: You might feel like you’re always on edge have trouble focusing or have trouble sleeping. You might also get angry easily. Do things without thinking.
When to Seek Help
If these symptoms last for than a month and affect your daily life, relationships or work you should talk to a doctor. There are treatments, like therapy and medicine that can help you manage your symptoms and feel better. PTSD is a condition that can be treated and you don’t have to go through it.
